The PhysioNet Consortium

PhysioNet was established in 1999 to provide open access via the web to large, growing, and unique collections of recorded physiologic signals and related open source software. It is the only resource of its kind, and every month it serves about 40,000 researchers, clinicians, developers, educators, and students worldwide. An active community of users and contributors of data and software relies upon PhysioNet as a source and repository for meticulously characterized signals and rigorously tested software to support many uses, including development and evaluation of medical devices, clinical research, drug studies, and basic science. PhysioNet is funded primarily through a cooperative agreement with the National Institutes of Health's NIBIB and NIGMS.
